BREWVIEW ON UNIBROUE’S PROVIDENTIAL ALE

Our BrewView on Unibroue’s Providential Ale was originally published on June 25, 2014.

Brewed since 2013 for the Trader Joe’s grocery store chain.

STYLE: Unibroue-style Golden Ale. 7.5% ABV.

APPEARANCE: Cloudy, medium golden color with a 3 finger height, creamy, dense, white colored head. Fine champagne-like bubbles stream throughout consumption time. It leaves even-sheeted lacing on the sides of the glass.

AROMA: Bready Unibroue yeast, spices, citrus, white pepper, balanced hop aromas.

FLAVOR: Meyer lemon, spices, pepper, gentle hop flavors.

MOUTHFEEL: Very complex carbonation, fills the entire mouth with its spritzy effervescence. The citrus and spice notes linger for a long time.

IMPRESSION: October 10, 2020: This Golden ale is one of the best in the market, and rivals those from Belgium. And for only $5.99 for a 750 ML bottle at Trader Joe’s, it is a great value for the cost. This will age up to 5 years, so pick up several bottles, and enjoy a few bottles now, and do yearly tastings.
