Our BrewView on Unibroue’s Lune de Miel was originally published on July 29, 2017.
Brewed since 2016, honey, which completes the bottle refermentation process, is a perfect match for the hoppy bouquet with rich hints of spices, herbs and wildflowers. For a limited time only.
Introducing Lune de Miel. Like all honeymoons, this divine nectar is simply unforgettable. It’s inspired from a distant era where the father of the bride would give his new son-in-law honey-flavoured beer for the first month of marriage.
STYLE: Unibroue-style Amber ale. 8% ABV.
APPEARANCE: Cloudy light amber colored liquid. 3-finger height white colored head is dense and creamy. Thick lacing on the sides of the glass during consumption.
AROMA: Bready Unibroue yeast, huge wildflower / sugary honeycomb notes, with floral hops.
FLAVOR: Bready Unibroue yeast, honey, spices, balanced hop bitterness.
MOUTHFEEL: Medium carbonation, hits the tip of the tongue, the honey notes linger for a good amount of time in the finish.
IMPRESSION: We were blown away with how prevalent the honey aromas and flavors were in Lune de Miel! It was the perfect balance of sweetness and dry hop bitterness. If you can find any bottles of it, you’ll want to get some! Another world class winner from Jerry Vietz and Unibroue.
