BREWVIEW ON UNIBROUE’S AUTRE CHOSE IPA À LA PÊCHE

Our BrewView on Unibroue’s Autre Chose IPA â la Pêche was originally published on December 2, 2018.

Brewed since 2018, the first beer of the new AUTRE CHOSE series is a dry hopped Peach IPA, unfiltered and non refermented brewed with Cascade, Galaxy, Citra and Lemondrop hops, and is the very first Unibroue beer to step out of the Belgian brewing traditions. Recognized as pioneers in the craft beer world, it is this same passion that inspired us to develop the very first Unibroue IPA. As Quebec precursors in the use of aromatics and herbs in beer, we wanted to add a more complex touch with the peach, a hint at our traditions.

STYLE: Unibroue-style fruited IPA. 6% ABV.

APPEARANCE: Peach color, (some pun intended) with some orange hues. Dense, creamy white colored head that leaves even-sheeted lacing on the sides of the glass as it is consumed. Very fine stream of bubbles when the liquid is first poured.

AROMA: A unique blend of herbs, spices, grassy / floral hops, and some funk. Imagine a Pêche Lambic with a very well balanced hop aroma.

FLAVOR: The aromas carry over into the flavor. Neither component dominates, all flavors are in harmony.

MOUTHFEEL: Moderate carbonation, moderate dank hop bitterness, which lingers for a long time.

IMPRESSION: Master Brewer Jerry Vietz told us “This is not the hoppiest of IPA’s out there.” Even so, it is sometimes hard to find an IPA that is well balanced and truly flavorful. The Autre Chose IPA â la Pêche has his unique funky touch to it, and is unlike any other IPA you will try. It was the IPA that opened our eyes to IPA’s again! Highly recommended, we’re trying like crazy to get our hands on more!
