Originally published in September 2017, this BrewView on STU BREW’S Into The Black / Black IPA was the fourth of 4 BrewViews for them. Their website states that this beer is occasionally brewed, also considered a seasonal beer.

STYLE: British IPA. ABV 5.6%.

APPEARANCE: Opaque, black color with a dense, 2-3 finger height light tan colored head. Dense, soapy lacing on the sides of the glass as the beer is consumed.

AROMA: Dark toast, mixed with floral Chinook and Cascade hop aromas and classic British diacetyl notes.

FLAVOR: The aromas carry over into the flavor. And as expected, classic British diacetyl flavors compliment without overpowering the malt-hop profile.

MOUTHFEEL: Medium to medium plus bodied, light carbonation, very roasty, toasty, hoppy finish. The roasted taste captures the entire mouth, and lingers in the finish.

IMPRESSION: My favorite of the four Stu Brew beers, it’s also very sessionable. Has a light “stout-like” character without the heaviness.
